The COVID-19 pandemic has hit the world, and the economy has come to a halt. There is hue and cry, and everyone is trying their best to avoid being contracted with the virus. But this sudden change has also helped people think differently, and come up with solutions for these new problems.
Here are 5 New Industries, that have surfaced/grown During this Pandemic:
1. Healthcare and education:
Healthcare platforms have a huge demand, at this time, as consumers prefer medical supplies being delivered online. This has become a great opportunity for venturists, and has led to the advent of many medical delivery platforms. Also, online learning apps, related to education, are being downloaded way more than before, leading to a huge spike in their profits, as well. Many people are stuck at home, and with online examinations going on, students do need a study guide/ companion.
2. Passion Economy:
Many other learning platforms like Udemy, Coursera, also pose opportunities for learning new skills, hobbies, etc. during this time. Many people like content writing, public speaking, poetry, etc. and they can definitely hone their skills, using such great platforms.
3. Food Delivery:
Many working individuals, students, etc. that are stuck at home, and do not have the time to cook due to work from home/online lectures, or do not know how to cook, are ordering in. This has led to a hike in their sales, as well. This has also led to major profits for platforms like Swiggy, Zomato, etc.
4. E-commerce/ Online Grocers:
People are avoiding going out as much as possible. So e-commerce platforms like Amazon, Flipkart, etc. are helping them get their essentials delivered to their doorstep. This also poses an added benefit of comfort and convenience.
Also, grocery stores, even though accessible to public, are inconvenient, and only a few people are allowed at a time. So, to avoid the hassle, people are ordering groceries online, with platforms like BigBasket, Grofers’, etc. This has also led to the rise of many new platforms as well.
5. Video Conferencing:
According to statistics from a mobile industry data provider, business communications apps saw growth record rates in March.
With a growing portion of the world ‘s population now living under some sort of government lockdown, many organizations have had to shift business processes – and their employees have to embrace a work-from – home culture on a scale never before attempted.
Not unexpectedly, demand for video conferencing apps has risen in recent weeks, with business-oriented mobile app downloads exceeding 62 million over the week of March 14-21 – the highest amount ever seen.
So despite being pretty detrimental, this pandemic has also opened up new pathways and new opportunities for people. Many many new ventures and businesses are surfacing, as well as, many existing ones are growing too!
It has led to better air quality, better hygiene practices and probably would prove to be good for improving metabolism and immunity.
