“A woman is the full circle. Within her is the power to create, nurture and transform.” ~ Diane Mariechild
Women are beautiful and the qualities they possess are beyond extraordinary. And so International Women’s Day is a powerful reminder to celebrate the women in our lives and make them feel special in every possible way. International Women’s Day, marked annually on March 8, is a day that celebrates women and their social, economic, cultural and political achievements.
The theme chosen for International Women’s Day 2021 is ‘Choose To Challenge’. Being challenged in today’s world is inevitable, especially for women. And from challenge comes change. So, let us all #ChooseToChallenge.
But in my opinion, Womanhood is not something that should just be celebrated for a single day. Women are so much more than they get credit for. They take up so many important roles in our lives so effortlessly and selflessly. And this is why I think Women’s Day should be every day! Celebrating your womanhood everyday is a symbol of strength and equality.
So Here are 5 ways you can Celebrate your Womanhood Everyday:
First and foremost, remember that love and respect start with you. By practicing self-love and self -care, you not only feel good about yourself but also spread the message to the women around you about how you deserve to be treated by others. Whether it’s just taking a break when you are tired, pampering yourself with goodies, indulging in a full-fledged skincare routine, appreciating your natural talents, or standing up for yourself in situations that are unfair, always remember to sprinkle some love on yourself daily.
Support other women:
It is tough being a woman in this male-dominated world. It is rightly said that “A woman alone has power, but collectively we have impact.” And it is high time we reverse the stereotype that women don’t support other women. Appreciate the women in your life every day by telling them why you love and support them. By not criticising one another, we will be able to build strong support networks, promoting the spirit of girl power. So ladies, go and support your fellow females in every field out there.
Volunteer for Organisations that help women:
Devote some time volunteering for good causes. It will not only help you feel better about yourself but also help in getting one step closer to achieving equality in today’s world. Some of the organisations in India that empower women and encourage them to take their lives in their own hands are: SEWA, Snehalaya, NEN, Azad Foundation, Makaam, Akshara, [email protected] India, COMMIT2CHANGE, ActionAid India etc. If you feel like you don’t have the time to volunteers for any such organisations, you can always donate some money or things that might help somebody in need. Just go to their website and you will find all details there.
Speak up against discrimination:
We as women face discrimination around us on a daily basis. Be it a friend passing a sexist comment or other extreme forms of discrimination. It not only eats up our self-esteem and confidence but also creates a culture where things like these are considered acceptable. We need to change that. My advice here would be to stand up and speak. Do not just stand by watching gender discrimination, but instead be a voice for the voiceless.
Gender is not a limitation. Mindset is:
Last but not the least remember that you are powerful, strong and beautiful inside out. Don’t let anyone else make you feel otherwise. You are no less than anyone else and can do anything and everything if you put you heart and soul into it.
I would like to conclude by saying that through even the smallest action, we can celebrate our womanhood every day and we do not need a specific day to appreciate ourselves and the amazing women around us.
