Bacchpan ki yaadein -Granny’s House tales

Everyone need a change from daily monotonous routines. Summer vacation are best time to give  break to that too. Granny’s house always the first on the list to visit in summer vacations.  Nowadays children enjoy less as compared to our time. Now children are more addictive to gadgets.

To start with, I would like to tell that this wonderland of mine is my granny”s house in a small village of Punjab. It is a place very well renown for its natural beauty. My grandma has a special place in my heart. When I was small I lived there for about three years and those three years left some many beautiful memories for me. The village is full of green. Whenever I visit her place, I feel relaxed and refreshed as if in mother nature’s lap. There are two places I like the most.

First, let me tell you about the field which my grandma is proud of. She grows lots of fruits trees, cereals, vegetables. Sometimes she also teaches me how to harvest them.

Let me share here a funny moment.  I love pets and specially their babies. At my grandma’s house one cat has turned up with its 5 babies.  I use to bring kitten hiding in my frock and my sister helped me to let them inside with getting noticed to others. We use to feed the kitten . Usually we hide them under the bedsheet but kitten make noise and  mom come to know  and we often get scolded while feeding them milk.

I use to sleep with my grandma, hugging her tight and listening 2 or 3 stories repeated always but they are never bored me because of her way to narrate them.

Bacchpan ki yaadein - Granny's House

We all cousin get together in granny’s house and use to play Kho Kho , hopscotch, hide and seek and lots of other games. We all are 10 as a team and we have no time to waste just to play outside and in afternoon we are not sleeping then we are trying to climb trees or playing dumb shiraz. Together we play, together we eat together we sleep and we are called Badmash chaukadi.

After I got married I taken promise from hubby that we use to visit granny’s house every year just like in my unmarried state. What we think is not necessary happens. Circumstances raises and I am able to visit 3-4 times after my 10 year of marriage.

Recently my abroad settled cousin came with his wife and daughter so we gather at Grandma’s house to welcome him. An idea strike in my mind why not to relive old memories. We decide to play game which we use to play in childhood. Here is the glimpse of it.

Next I would love to tell you about a special room which is located among the trees and flowers in the garden. I hear the chirping of the birds when the room is quiet. Pleasant cool breeze blows and makes me enjoy my sleep in that cozy room . From the sit out near the room the starlit sky look beautiful at night. It seem as if the Stars are sitting there and staring at me. There is a stream close by and the water is Crystal clear, pure, clean and cold. There are a lot of fish in it. I also get to see fireflies in the summer.

I have a lot of pleasant memories of the wonderful place. For this reason, I love my grandma’s house and it’s my wonderland.

My kids also go to their granny’s house. Enjoy granny’s love, care and pampering. She always make their favorite things just to see them smiling. She try to fulfill their wishes, desire. My kids enjoying new member in granny’s house. Want to meet new buddy, here  you go

Visiting Grandparents will never same again if they also shift to big cities. The old homes and those farms were really the epitome of our childhood. The generations coming ahead will miss this portion in their life.

I am one sad person when the discussion comes to villages. Our entire clan is born and brought up in Mumbai and sadly, its our village. But it was so nice to read the post. It made me think about my nani.
