Without a doubt, Pizza is the most savoury dish in the world which nobody denies to eat. It’s a food of legacy with a vast history. Having an origin from Italy to its modernization by Americans, Pizza has come a long way and is served with a variety of dough and toppings.

Pizza In Life

Back then, the origin of the pizza was seen in the 1st century BC where people eat it as a flatbread used by several European civilizations.

In the sixth century BC, the troopers within the armies of the traditional Persian King, Darius I baked flatbreads with cheese and dates on top of their battle shields. In the 16th century when the new world introduced tomatoes or perhaps, we can say by Americans, it became an integral part of the Italian pizza as its topping which later spread across the globe.

Although, the island of Sicily is said to be the home of ancient pizza. Now, if you are wondering where the word pizza come from- it is assumed that Pizza was mentioned in the writings of the Darius the great victory of Europe. It suggests the habit of his soldiers to bake flatbread on their shields, which were later covered with cheese and dates.

The traditional toppings are tomato sauce and mozzarella cheese.

Celebrities like Frank Sinatra and Joe DiMaggio are die-hard lovers of this dish and famous singer, Dean Martin said, “When the moon hits your eye like a big pizza, that’s a more; which led American to eat and sing pizzas.”

The first ever pizza hut was founded in 1958 by Dan and Frank Carney.
