The deadly second wave of Corona in the country is still swallowing lives each passing day. Meanwhile, the central government has warned about its third wave of Corona. Principal Scientific Advisor of the government Vijay Raghavan said that a third wave of Corona will also come. Virus infection is still at its highest level. It is not yet known when the third wave will come and how dangerous it will be, but we have to be ready for the new wave. Raghavan was speaking at a press conference on the situation in Corona on Wednesday.
What makes the third wave more lethal is the population it will affect. Many scientists report that the third wave can be dangerous especially for children upto the age of 12 years. Maharashtra has already prepared its Covid wards for children in Mumbai. The news has scared parents for obvious reasons. Owing to the fear, the Supreme Court asked the government about the measures it is taking to tackle the third wave of Corona.

I, as a mum of two young ones, am also struck by the news of third wave. To think about children who can barely take care of themselves being alone inside covid wards sends chills down the bone. Even the thought of being separated from your children can frighten any parent. At this moment, nothing other than prevention can help us more. It is about time to gear up to sensitize our little musketeers about the pandemic safety.
Nutrition is important
Nutrition is of utmost importance for kids. As growing seeds, they require rich nutrition to meet their needs. Nutrition also builds immunity that is essential to fight the Corona virus. I would definitely suggest you to feed your kids only healthy and homemade food. Lentils, fruits, green leafy vegetables, etc. should be the only things on your kid’s plate. To make their meals a bit more fun, you may try new recipes from the internet and surprise them. Children can be troublemakers when it comes to healthy eating. So to avoid bad eating habits, you can add healthy elements in their favourite dishes. Let me remind you again, having wholesome meals boosts your kid’s immunity and growth.
Hygiene and Safety
Kids do not take masks seriously and often fidget with them. It becomes our responsibility to mask up our children if they have to go out. Masking can reduce the chances of catching the virus significantly. It becomes our duty now for us to have our kids masked up. Hand hygiene is the most essential precaution to save children from the virus. One doesn’t need to be told how kids want to touch everything. It is important to teach them to wash their hands after regular intervals and have clean hands always. Sanitisers may be harmful for the tender skin of your kids. Thus, hand washes and liquid soaps remain the safer and better option.
Making indoors their funzone
When it comes to playing, going outside is a big no. Tell your kids about the dangers of going outside so that they understand. Moreover, you should take up the role of their buddy and play with them indoors. Physical activity is vital for not just growth but also mental wellbeing of kids. Staying locked for such a long time can make them irritable. Find ways to make your house playful and fun for your children. My children do not get bored for a second as they have Maxi to their rescue. But yes, playing indoors shouldn’t mean playing on the phone 24/7. Screens can hamper your child’s eyes and also make them addicted.
While the coronavirus should be taken absolutely seriously, you should also focus on being calm and relaxed.

It is important that parents get themselves vaccinated Priority Uno. You can ask adults to keep distance from you for they do understand the gravity of the situation, toddlers understand the language of love exclusively so it is difficult for them to maintain distance from you. In the event a child contracts the virus it will be imperative that one vaccinated parent is isolated with the child preferably in a room with attached bathroom. The other parent can tender to the Childs need whilst the other makes sure that he/her stays in the room and not leave it. A word of caution, the parent accompanying the infected child should not eat or sleep with the infected kid and create environment for himself/ herself to minimize direct contact.
12 year kids can get vaccine shot but for kids below , parents have to be more cautions.
