Holi is festival of colours , a celebration of the victory of virtue and goodness over evil. It is a colorful festival of great joy and enthusiasm. A day filled with complete mischief, fun and enjoyment. Everyone is so excited to see each other colourful faces , splash water and colour on each other. But this colour bring some harmful effect on skin and hairs. Sharing pre and post Holi tips that help you be safe from harsh effect of colours.
TIPS FOR SAFE HOLI
PRE HOLI
SKIN
Make a mixture of Coconut oil 1 tbsp, castor oil 1 tsp and olive oil 1 tbsp and apply it all over your skin before playing Holi. Apply behind the ears, between toes finger and hand fingers and other exposed areas.
Apply a sunscreen (preferably SPF 20 and above) 20 minutes before going out. Most sunscreens have built-in moisturisers but if your skin is very dry, apply sunscreen, Wait for a few minutes and follow up with a moisturizer. Apply a lotion on your arms and other exposed areas too.
LIPS
Use petroleum jelly on your lips will work for a longer period of time.
HAIRS
Massage your hair well with oil and tie them up in a bun. This will ensure that the scalp and hair do not absorb colours too easily. In case you have short hair, apply hair gel.You can also wear a bandana.
NAIL
Drench your cuticles in olive oil so your nails do not soak up any colour. Then, use a thick coat of nail paint on the nails and put Vaseline under the nail edges.
WEAR SUNGLASSES
it sound funny that wearing sunglasses for Holi . people may think you are acting bit stylish, if so let the world say so. Nothing bad go with cool sunglasses after all. It protect your eyes from Holi colours to go inside your eyes. Who will love to have stain near eyes that look like beat bashes.
POST HOLI TIPS
1.Avoid the use of soaps or face washes as they are alkaline in nature, they will dry your skin. Instead take pure almond oil or coconut oil and massage it on your skin. Then take damp cotton and remove the colors. Once the colors are off take a cold or lukewarm shower and after that moisturize your skin well. If your skin is dry and itchy then massage aloe vera gel before shower.
2.To wash your hair, first rinse with plenty of plain water. Then apply a mild herbal shampoo, working it into the hair with your fingers and massage the scalp gently and rinse thoroughly. Beer can be used as a last rinse. Squeeze juice of a lemon in your mug of beer and pour over your hair. Leave for a few minutes and rinse off with plain water.
REGAIN SHINE OF YOUR HAIR
– To nourish your hair, mix 1 tbsp pure coconut oil with 1 tsp castor oil. Heat and apply on your hair. Dip a towel in hot water, squeeze out the water and wrap the hot towel around the head, like a turban. Keep it for five minutes. Repeat towel treatment 3-4 times. Wash your hair after an hour.
